The Assam state cabinet has officially sanctioned a key commercial proposal designed to enhance local industrial infrastructure. In its latest session, the cabinet gave its approval to an investment plan put forward by Weetek Plastic Private Limited. This decision clears the way for the company to construct a new manufacturing facility in Rangia, which is expected to support commercial development and manufacturing capabilities within the state.
In addition to boosting commercial enterprise, state ministers addressed statutory regulations surrounding natural resource management. The governing body approved revisions to existing mining rules, specifically targeting how extracted limestone is handled. Under the updated policy framework, limestone pulled from local quarries will be sorted into various quality grades. This systematic grading process aims to facilitate a more structured collection of official royalties from the sector.
The meeting also brought significant announcements regarding the state's cultural landscape. The government announced the creation of a new accolade, named the 'Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Award', to honor individuals making outstanding contributions to art, music, and culture.
This new cultural distinction aligns with broader efforts to pay tribute to the iconic music maestro. State leadership confirmed that the grand finale marking the conclusion of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's birth centenary celebrations will be organized in New Delhi. The mega event is set to take place on November 29, 2026, bringing his artistic legacy to the national capital.
